Removing Carpet Staples From Wood Floor
Use your standard screwdriver to pry them from the floor.
Removing carpet staples from wood floor. Press down the handle to pop the staple out of the wood. Use the pliers to pull up any staples that remain stuck in the floor. Remove carpet more than likely you ll have to use your knife to cut the carpet into strips as you pull it off the floor. Its easiest to pull a section off of the tack strips and then cut the carpet into long thin strips.
Once the crowbar helped me loosen a corner or two of the carpet it was fairly easy to just yank it up by hand. Slide the tip of the heavy duty office stapler under the carpet staple. Use the hammer to lightly tap the pry bar or flathead screwdriver under the tack strips then lift them and pry them off with either the pry bar or hammer. Remove the carpet tacking strips which may be nailed or stapled to the hardwood floor.

In that case use the pliers to fully remove the staple from the floor. Do this gently so you keep the damage to the floor to a minimum. To remove them use a floor scraper.
Stray staples and nails will be scattered throughout the material so continue wearing gloves. If needed cut the carpet into manageable pieces with a razor knife and roll them into tubes before placing them into the trash can. When you ve torn off all the carpet and pad pull out all the staples with pliers. Sometimes one end of the staple may still be stuck in the wood.

On a concrete floor the pad is glued in place so big chunks of pad will remain stuck to the floor. At this point you ll want to roll it up replicating how the carpet comes when its brand new.
